University of Nebraska-Lincoln online course screen shotThe Distance Education 101 Blackboard site has been designed for instructors who are planning to create or convert existing courses to online asynchronous courses.

The site has been designed as both a quick reference guide and as a tutorial. Each section includes best practices culled from professional online associations, tips and tricks from instructional designers and instructors who have walked this path before you, along with links to key points from recent research and other distance materials available on the web.

Distance Education 101 is housed within http://my.unl.edu and is available 24/7. It is a self-enroll community. To enter the first time, follow the instructions below:

  •     Go to my.unl.edu
  •     Enter your user name and password
  •     Click on the “Courses and Organizations” tab in the top navigation bar
  •     Do an “Organization Search” for Distance Education 101
  •     You will see Distance Education 101 listed under Organizations
  •     Click on “Enroll”

Once you have enrolled, Distance Education 101 will appear under “My Organizations” as an “Organization in which you are participating” on your personnel Blackboard home page.
