Relationship with the Military
Our relationship with the military dates back to 1891 when General John J. Pershing taught military science courses at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
UNL's commitment to military personnel and their families has earned us a spot on the G.I. Jobs Military Friendly Schools® List for 2013. We were also honored as a top military-friendly institution in the Military Advanced Education's 4th Annual Guide (2010-2011) to Military-Friendly Colleges and Universities. We are members of the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) network and the Yellow Ribbon program. We accept military credit, as well as CLEP exam scores. Additionally, UNL is honored to be listed as a Featured University in the Military MBA education network. Moreover, UNL is listed in the online members and associates directory of the American Council on Education (ACE).
UNL is a participating institution in the DANTES program. Military personnel and their dependents should contact the education service officer at their base or aboard their ship for details on enrolling in courses through the DANTES program.

Students may request that nine months of active duty military service fulfill either the ACE 8 or ACE 9 requirement.
ACE 8 outcome: Explain ethical principles, civics & stewardship, & their importance to society.
