The Durham School offers graduate programs in construction and architectural engineering, delivered on the UNL City Campus in Lincoln and at The Peter Kiewit Institute (PKI) on Scott Camus in Omaha. Having these three programs interconnected across two cities allows our students to learn from and conduct research with faculty from diverse areas of expertise, as well as offer excellent opportunities to engage with industry professionals throughout the area.
Architectural Engineering
Master of Architectural Engineering (MAE)
The Master of Architectural Engineering (MAE) is intended for students who have graduated with a Bachelor of Science in architectural engineering (B.S.A.E.) from the University of Nebraska. This is an ABET-accredited professional degree, based on coursework and a capstone graduate design project.
Master of Science in Architectural Engineering (M.S.AE.)
The Master of Science in Architectural Engineering (M.S.A.E.) is intended for students who did not receive their B.S.A.E. at the University of Nebraska. Options include a thesis-based degree and will be determined based on advisor and student agreement.
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Architectural Engineering
The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Architectural Engineering prepares students for faculty or industry roles. Students concentrate on an area of specialization from sub-disciplines in building energy, lighting, electrical, acoustics or structures.
Construction Engineering and Management
Graduate Certificate
The Construction Engineering and Management graduate certificate is a 12-credit-hour program designed for working professionals who are not ready to commit to a traditional graduate degree program. The certificate allows students to explore the construction field beyond a bachelor’s degree, offering advanced courses in the area(s) of their choice based on previous experience, education, and academic and professional goals.
Master of Science (M.S.)
The Master of Science in Construction Engineering and Management degree was designed as a conduit for professionals working in the construction industry to obtain an advanced degree. Typically, students in the program will continue working on a full or part-time basis for their organization. There are generally no graduate assistantships, fellowships or stipends associated with this degree.
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
The doctoral degree is offered through the unified Ph.D. program in engineering. Upon completion of the program, students will receive a Ph.D. in engineering with a specialization in construction engineering and management. These graduate programs offer a unique blend of courses and research in business, construction management, construction engineering, engineering, architecture, law and related disciplines.
