Position Title: Shake Table Testing and Numerical Modeling of Steel Grain Bins Position

Description: This position is intended to lead to a master's thesis in civil engineering. Candidates may include students in their final year of undergraduate study at UNL or first year of graduate study, particularly including students pursuing the Accelerated M.S. program in Civil Engineering. This position will involve large scale shake table testing using the 7-ft by 7-ft shake table located in the UNL High Bay Structures Laboratory (capable of 1g seismic acceleration for 1 ton structures). The student will also be expected to collaborate with another graduate student in corresponding finite element modeling and simulations. Minimum criteria for eligibility match those of the MS program in Civil Engineering at UNL. Students with experience in full-scale structural testing laboratories, scaled shake table testing, or finite element analysis will be preferred. All interested parties are encouraged to reach out.

How to apply? Email the PI (Dr. Christine Wittich) and include a brief summary of motivation/interest in this particular topic as well as any relevant background.
